Canberra Speech Therapy will email a questionnaire for you to fill out and return prior to your initial assessment. Please also bring any previous reports or information about you or your child to this first appointment, as this information is helpful in treatment planning.
The initial consultation will take approximately one hour. Occasionally, a longer consultation may be needed if there are complex issues to discuss or there is slow progress with data capture. If this is the case, a further appointment may be needed to adequately complete the assessment – your Speech Pathologist will discuss this with you should the situation arise.
The cost of the initial consultation includes the parent interview, assessment, discussion of the results and a detailed report. If therapy is recommended, this also includes the development of an intervention program specifically tailored to you or your child’s individual needs.
Written parental consent is required before therapy for your child can begin, and we liaise with all medical professionals, allied health staff and school staff as needed.
You will be allocated an agreed weekly session time and provided with a folder that contains your individualised program. This program contains therapy materials, goals, data sheets and information and we ask you to bring it to each therapy session to assist us in monitoring progress.
